Coaching Changes in May and Beyond

May 3, 2022

I would just like to update you on some amazing changes that are happening in our club this month, and in the following season.  This month we are losing some coaches, gaining some replacements and making strides towards Delta being the best play to grow, train and swim.

Congratulations to Coach Sophie!  She is moving on in her life and was accepted to University of Calgary for a Masters of Social Work.  We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.  Coach Cory will be sliding over to take on the Junior groups' coaching roles until the end of the season.

Coach Holly will be taking a break from DSSC as of May 13th as she goes over to the BCSSA to be the Assistant Head Coach with the Cloverdale Tritons Swim Club.  Holly will be returning to us in September with some new found skills and knowledge.  We welcome back Coach Jaya Castillo who will be taking on the DLC: White, DLC: Blue, DLC: Intro and Regional Development on Monday/Wednesday.  Jaya was a member of the club since 2012 and a frequent member of the coaching staff when her studies allowed it.

I am proud to announce that Cliff Noth has been hired on for the 2022-23 season.  He will be taking on the role of Senior Coach and directing programing for the 14 & over swimmers in the club.  Cliff's esteemed coaching career both in Ontario and BC will serve the club well.  His ability to engage teen athletes, build relationships, and progress them through to university swimming should be exciting to watch. We are so excited to have him on board.  Head Coach Kurt Murphy will be filling the roll of Junior Group Coach as of September.

The 2022-23 season is shaping up to be amazing!  Group assessments for the 2022-23 season should be sent out in the next 10 days, and pre-registration will be opened up May 15-30th.  The 2022-23 season will start on September 12th.  Don't forget about the job signups for the May 29th DSSC 11 & Under Sprint Cup, as well as our DSSC AGM on May 18th.

See you at the pool!
