Successful Home-hosted Meet for Sungod Swim Club, 11 & Under Sprint Cup a resounding success!

What an exciting swim meet for DSSC 11 & Under swimmers! Twenty-three athletes from the Delta Sungod Swim Club participated in their home-hosted 11 & Under Sprint Cup. The meet hosted 150 young athletes from 7 different LMR clubs to some fun, fast shorter events. DSSC’s 11 & Under Sprint cup has been a staple meet for developing young swimmers for over 10 years. With the concept of a short, prize filled session swimmers could get up and race multiple events and still see much success.

The meet’s fun environment can be attributed to DSSC’s parent organizers and volunteer cohort who worked diligently to ensure that all the swimmers walked away feeling good about themselves.

Emma Zhang (10) - gold 100 IM/100 Breast/50 Free, bronze 100 back/50 fly
Gabrielle Wang (11) 5^th 100 breast/50 free, 8^th 100 back, 11^th 50 fly
Riya Rai (11) – 11^th 100 breast, 12^th 50 free/50 fly, 14^th 100 IM, 16^th 100 back
Mateo Pecotic (10) 12^th 200 IM
Arwin Khangura (10) 14^th 50 free/100 breast, 15^th 100 IM, 16^th 50 fly
Kaia Hall (10) 14^th 100 back
Reet Grewal (11) 7^th 50 fly
Mia Bruneau (10) 10^th 100 breast
Aaron Alby (11) 7^th 100 breast, 10^th 100 fly/100 free, 11^th 100 back, 13^th 100 IM

Team members who achieved 100% personal best times with no disqualifications were:
Aaron Alby, Mica Bruneau, Colby Deeg (11), Ariyana Dhesi (10), Lea Ghanem (10), Reet Grewal (11), Arwin Khangura, Riya Rai, and Isaac Williston (10).

DSSC had one swimmer achieve a new Vancouver-Coastal Divisional time, Emma Zhang qualified her 100 Breaststroke. As well, Emma was a new club record breaker in the Girls 10 & under 50 free Short Course.

With Championship season fast approaching, DSSC’s swimmers are training harder and smarter than ever; learning new skills, and mastering those that were already taught. The coaching staff is looking forward to some great results moving into the June meets. LMR Championships East in Langley, Kamloops, Divisionals in Richmond and Provincials at UBC.
