DSSC Athletes Collecting Long Course Swims at West Coast Open

It was a great weekend of swimming for the Delta Sungod Swim Club.  The club brought 24 athletes to the West Coast Open swam out of Watermania Pool in Richmond.  The annual meet brought together clubs from throughout the Lower Mainland Region and was swam as a Long Course event.  This means that each race was swam in a pool that measured 50m in length (as opposed to the standard 25m pool).

The 50m pool makes racing different, and poses different tactical challenges when approaching a race.  DSSC athletes did a phenomenal job in navigating this.  For many athletes they were able to swim faster in a long course pool than they were in their respective short course events.  This shows some amazing fitness.
