February swimmer of the month
February was a month filled with incredible zest and determination! Our swimmers powered through the cold winter days with a fierce drive and a positive mindset, making this month one for the books. We sent a crew of twenty athletes to divisionals, raced at psw winter invitational and had a team fun meet (go team go!!). Let’s carry this momentum into the next month and continue to ride the wave of success together! Keep up the amazing work, swimmers!
The coaches are excited to announce.....
Swimmer of the month for February
Learn to compete: Derek Garces Ibarguen
Derek has truly stood out this month with his exceptional focus, leadership, and unwavering effort during every practice. It's clear that his dedication in practice will continue to lead him to even greater success in the pool. Keep it up, Derek—you’re doing amazing!
Learn to compete Gold: Thaydian Alexander
In ltc:gold this month the swimmers had a shot to get on the blocks during practice and race their IM’s against Novice and fellow ltc:gold swimmers. Thaydian stepped up to the plate and swam his first ever 200IM for time and blew it out of the water. Congratulations Thaydian!
Novice: Kaira Singhal
During the month of February Kaira has worked through some ups and downs. Coming into Novice, she was finding her footing in her new group, and has since taken the challenge head on. She has shown she can go fast when in matters in practice. This effort and work paid off as she was able to achieve her qualifying time of 2:10.00 in her 100m IM. This means she will now be working towards her LMR qualifying time of 4:00.00 in the 200m IM.
Regional: Ana Dhaliwal
Ana is one of the most driven swimmers in the Regional White group. She has been focused hard on achieving her LMR qualifying time in the 200m IM. Although she has face difficulty, she continues to rise up and work hard each and every day. There’s no doubt in my mind, with her focus and effort, she will achieve her qualifying time. She earned swimmer of the month for the fact she puts effort into everything she does in practice.
Junior Blue & White: Ben Gangoso
Ben had a great Divisional championships. He finaled, made his Provincial cut in his favourite stroke, and swam some great personal bests. Although his month wasn't easy, he persevered over some big challenges and ended up walking away from them a more confident, happier person. The Head Coach is very proud of his efforts and resilience over the past few months and the coaching staff is looking forward to seeing him progress through the club in the near future.
Congratulations on all your successes, both personally and athletically.
Senior White: Jimmy Liu
Jimmy has been working incredibly hard in practice, no matter what type of set is thrown his way. The work effort and perseverance when things get hard is something to admire and this quality will take him far! Congratulations Jimmy!
Senior Blue & Gold: Emma Zhang
Senior groups SOM for February is Emma Zhang. In recent months, she has really stepped up her in practice work on efforts levels and ability to control pacing. Her negative spilt in the 800 free at Divisionals was an excellent example of all her work coming to fruition.
