Ten Year Olds Paredes Troughton and Lee have Great Winskill Meet

Part of getting older is being able to step up and race the big kids! For Monica Paredes Troughton (10) and Oliver Lee (10), that was exactly what they did this past weekend at the Winskill LMR meet in Richmond. Not being afraid to go head to head with kids who are bigger, older or seeded faster than you in your event is a skill that needs to be learned by almost every swimmer.

The 400 person swim meet hosted by the Winskill Dolphins Swim Club brought together clubs from all over the Lower Mainland and swimmers of every size, age, and ability level. The meet was a great opportunity for the youngest members of the team to get in and get some good racing in.

Delta had 7 swimmers qualify new Vancouver-Fraser Valley Divisional Championship time standards. Tiger Du (12) 200 IM, 50 backstroke
Avery Goksel (12) 50 breaststroke
Gurshaan Sangha (14) 200 fly
Rebecca Soroke (14) 800 free
Daniel Wang (16) 400 IM
Emma Zhang (11) 200 fly
As well, as one new BC Provincial Championship qualifier: Max Zha in the 200 IM.

Delta had two new club records. The first in the Male 15 & Over 200 fly Short Course by Max Zha. He was 2:12.86, breaking his own club record by almost 2 seconds. Rebecca Soroke (14) broke her own club record in the girls 13-14 100 fly Short Course. She went 1:04.45, and was a whole second faster than her previous best.
